The Children's Room

Philosophy

The Children’s Room at Zenana Spa and Wellness Center has at its core a commitment to compassionate communication, which is designed to create safety, connection, and joyful resolution to the inevitable conflicts that arise.

Who can use the Children’s Room?

Child Care is available for spa and wellness center clients, while they are onsite receiving services or attending classes, consultations, or support groups.

Hours

Child care is available Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am-4:30pm and Wednesday from 9:30am-2pm.

Reservations

Reservations are required, as space is based on availability. Child care is available for two hours per day per child. Special arrangements can be made for workshops, or service packages that last longer than 2 hours. Please arrive 15 minutes early for check-in, if you are using the childcare service.

Fees

We charge $6 per hour for one child, and $3 per hour for each additional child. You will be charged only for the time your child is under the supervision of Children’s Room staff.

Cancellation

Because we staff the children’s room with our trained employees based on the number of reservations we receive, we ask that you call to cancel 2 or more hours prior to your scheduled service. Guests who cancel reservations with less than 2 hours notice (or who don’t show up for their reservation) will be subject to a $6.00 late cancel fee.

Illness

If your child is ill, please keep him/her home. A child who hasn’t slept well, has a fever, severe cough, colored nasal discharge, or stomach ache needs the extra nurturing home provides, and the other children attending the Children’s Room will have a better chance of remaining healthy if all parents follow these guidelines.

We will call you to come get your child if he/she appears too ill to enjoy being in the children’s room.

The Children’s Room Policies:

Parents must remain on the property while their child is in the Children’s Room. Please inform staff where you will be in the spa and wellness center, in case your child is upset and we need to find you.

We have a no shoe policy in the Children’s Room and ask that you remove your shoes before entering.

Check- in

During your first visit to the Children’s Room, you will be asked to turn in an emergency contact sheet for each child. At check-in you will be asked to sign your child in, indicating where in the Spa and Wellness Center you will be, and what time you expect your service(s) or class to end.  Please leave your diaper bag, and any snacks or drink for your child, labeled with your child’s name. Only the person who checks in a child may pick them up, unless the staff is notified in writing during check-in. This process will help ensure the safety of your children as well as help the staff get to know your family.

Pick up: please sign your child out at the end of his/her stay and inform the staff member that you are leaving.

Goodbyes

We welcome parents in the children’s room anytime during Children’s Room hours, for as long as it works well for you and your child.  We will make every effort to make transitions easy and warm, and to create an atmosphere that welcomes and reassures.  However, our primary goal is not to get parents out the door, or for children to accept their leaving happily, but to help children feel comfortable and safe in the long run, to facilitate return visits and more effectively support the whole family over time. We hope you will feel completely comfortable staying with your child until s/he, or you, decide it is time to go. If your child is unused to being without you, we encourage you to leave time before your scheduled service or class, so that you can help ease the transition for your child and help make the Children’s Room a positive experience for all.

Snacks

In keeping with the Children’s Room philosophy of supporting healthy choice and autonomy for children:

  • There is no set time when children are expected to sit and eat.
  • Snacks should be brought from home and will be available for children to eat when they are hungry. Please label cups.
  • Due to severe allergies, nuts and nut products are not allowed.
  • We ask that you avoid sending candy or soda.

Clothing

Children of both genders are welcome to remove shirts and socks.  We ask that all children keep their underwear/diapers on.

The Children’s Room is a shoeless space – if your child prefers to have his/her feet covered, please send slippers or other indoor shoes.

If your child uses diapers, please send a diaper bag, with your child’s name clearly marked.
