I invite you to learn the ancient arts of infant massage and yoga through respectful touch and movement interactions with your baby. Nurturing touch in the early months is vital to health and wellbeing and is an important component in brain development. You will learn methods for connecting with your baby through touch with strokes and movements for legs/feet, tummy/chest, arms/hands, back and face while respecting baby pacing and cues. You will also learn to weave baby yoga “poses” and activities into the massage interaction, which support your baby’s natural development. The yoga poses and movements are based on Itsy Bitsy Yoga®, which include unique “sing and do” methods to help baby (and parent) calm and relax. This class setting provides a supportive environment for moms/dads/caregivers to connect with peers and allows them to slow down and hang out with baby. You will learn to keenly observe and be present with your precious child to enhance and deepen your relationship through touch and gentle movements. This relationship deepening will last a lifetime. Baby Blues Connection Postpartum Partners Workshop Saturday, November 10 - 3:00-5:00 pm Information about depression, anxiety, and recovery, helpful tips and time for your questions. Baby Blues Connection (BBC) is a mom-to-mom organization providing support, information, and resources to Stroller Strides - Fitness for Moms, Fun for Babies! Stroller Fitness Introduction - A FREE "How-To" Seminar As excited as new moms are about the birth of our babies, we also can't believe the body that's been left behind. Our round, voluptuous body seemed beautiful while pregnant and seems like bread dough after labor. What makes matters worse is that new moms generally don't have time to do traditional exercise and shouldn't be dieting. Our bodies undergo a tremendous amount during pregnancy, so the last thing we should do is deprive it of precious nutrients. But yes, there is hope! Our Stroller Strides program is helping new moms get back their pre pregnancy shape. What's even better is that they get to meet other new moms and spend valuable time with their babies. Classes consist of power walking with intervals of body toning stations using the stroller and the outside environment. Stroller Strides makes it part of their business to support new moms through their parenting experience via playgroups, discussions and a variety of activities for both mom and baby. Please call Mackenzie for more info: 503.381.0694 or visit www.strollerstrides.com. Birth Dance Classes begin on Wednesday, November 28th Couples Massage Class February 16th, 1:00-6:00 pm In the couples massage class you’ll expand your skills and increase your touch intelligence and tailor-make your approach to meet your partner’s needs. Does one partner seem distracted when massaging you, or going into irritating repetitions, or hurting you by not knowing his or her own strength? Perhaps your partner is touching too superficially to be satisfying, not really reaching you, or even worse…the T-word, tickling you? In this class we’ll explore how touch is influenced by being present. It can take an ordinary rub-a-dub-dub to a more profound level and create a new level of trust between the two of you. Learn to turn a cranky partner back into your loving partner with some simple techniques. Please avoid wearing makeup, hair products, or perfume. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a pillow and blanket. Within this five hour workshop you will be learning how to give your partner a full body Swedish massage. Class limited to six couples. CEU’s are available to L.M.T.’s upon request. Cost: $125 per couple Betsy Berres has been a practicing massage and healing arts therapist for twenty years in Portland, Oregon. She is certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming and has studied several body-mind modalities. Betsy has taught a variety of massage courses and healing art classes for the last four years in the Continuing Ed Department of Portland Community College and continues with her private practice in Northeast Portland. Occasionally, she finds herself writing a poem, or two. Elizabeth G. Berres, L.M.T. #2688 Baby Sign Language Play Classes (6 - 24 mos)

We just did that workshop last weekend and while we came away feeling a little concerned about our current parenting, we also got motivated, energized, supported and became far more positive in our approach with our 3 year old. We immediately saw some results. I would love for them to start an ongoing class like that with new material, that includes some reinforcing of the great info we got at the first one." - Lisa
