The Value of Self Nurture
by Savannah Mayfield
As a mother, you know how important it is to take care of yourself. But ask any busy mama and she will tell you: self-care can be a real challenge!
You are juggling so much: you work (inside or outside of the home), you care for your family, you keep up with your household and somehow in the midst of all the chaos, you try to find time to take care of yourself.
You know how you feel when you are not taking care of yourself. You can be tired, grumpy, resentful and have a short fuse. When you are burnt out, the quality of care you give your family sometimes doesn’t meet your own (often very high) standards.
But what if nurturing yourself is about more than just finding time to get a massage, exercising or having a date with your partner every so often? What if Self Nurture is about how you think about your life, how you talk to yourself and the choices you make each moment? What if Self Nurture is about your relationship with yourself?
Think about how many women drag themselves to the gym thinking, “I have to exercise and get rid of these fat hips” or “I need to lose weight before I can accept myself.” They might be practicing self-care but they sure are not practicing Self Nurture!
You see, when you think of self-care only in terms of your actions, you are missing the most important part of the equation: your self!
Please join me for a free women’s circle on Saturday February 6th from 3 to 4 pm. We will explore the true meaning of Self Nurture in a supportive environment of like-minded women. You will leave feeling inspired to care for yourself more tenderly! Space is limited so please RSVP.
